At a Customer Relations and Marketing Developing Strategy Training recently, the facilitator commended the team lead of my case study group for introducing himself properly. And how was the introduction done: "My names are Shehu Chukwu(not real names). Facilitator went about how it is a plural verb arrangement. Then he further said that "my name is" is only correct when one introduces him/herself with the first name, as in(another topic for another day) "my name is Taiwo"
Using the subject-verb agreement basic rule, should it be "my names are Oludairo Taiwo or is it grammatically correct to say "my name is Taiwo Oludairo being that it refers to a particular individual/entity.
Going by the definition of what a name is, that is a word or set of words by which a person is known or addressed, i conclude by saying my name is Taiwo Oludairo.
